Ol’ Dirty Bastard officially has a cryptocurrency in his honor, the O.D.B. Coin. The late rapper passed away nearly 14 years ago. In honor of Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s legacy, his estate is launching the O.D.B. Coin.
The coin was initially dubbed “Dirty Coin” but now operates under the name O.D.B. Coin. Its purpose is to fund projects including albums, concerts, merchandise, etc. This flashy new token will be the first Initial Artist Offering (IAO) available on AltMarket.
Introducing the O.D.B. Coin
As we mentioned, O.D.B. Coin is the first of its kind listed on AltMarket. AltMarket is a new peer-to-peer (P2P) trading platform. AltMarket intends to run IAOs with the intention of connecting artists and fans through cryptocurrency and entertainment combined, starting with this coin.
IAOs will benefit artists through fundraising and community building. And fans will have access to exclusive access to events, tours, merchandise, and more. Buying into an artist’s IAO is a new way to support them while joining a community founded upon entertainment and emerging tech.
Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s Pre-Sale on AltMarket
Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s legacy cryptocurrency is the first cryptocurrency of Hip Hop.
The coin is limited edition, fully licensed, and named after Wu Tang Clan’s Ol’ Dirty Bastard. O.D.B. Coin is on the Ethereum blockchain. This makes it compatible with some wallets.
O.D.B. Coin is just an indication of what’s to come for AltMarket. Specifically, the future of entertainment may be digital currency and blockchain. The music industry is subject to fraud like illegal streaming, ticket fraud, scalping, intellectual property breach, which Ticketmaster is trying to curb with blockchain. This makes it harder for artists to make a living off of their craft.
The entertainment industry could be shifting towards digital ledger technology. Johnny Depp just inked a deal with blockchain-based media company TaTaTu.
