IBM (International Business Machines Corporation) is a multinational IT company which is headquartered in Armonk, New York, United States. It operates in over 170 countries worldwide and has been operational since 1911. The company was initially named Computing-Tabulating-Recording Company (CTR) and was renamed to International Business Machines in 1924. Apart from their work in information technology, IBM is a massive research organization. In fact, they have held the record for the most patents created in the US for 25 consecutive years. Inventions by the company include the following: the automated teller machine (ATM), the floppy disk and hard disk drive, and the magnetic stripe card, among many others.
