  • 2026 · Data breach: Disclosed 16 Aug 2026: an authorization flaw in the order-tracking function of a store plug-in exposed names, emails, shipping addresses, phone numbers and purchase details of about 39,798 customers who ordered between 2 Mar 2025 and 11 Apr 2026; the data was offered for sale on a cybercrime forum. SafePal said seed phrases, private keys and payment data were not exposed and that it found no evidence the incident itself compromised wallets or funds. source

Partly. Some components of SafePal S1 are closed. SafePal says 'essential aspects of the code for private key generation and other important features are open source'. A GPL-3.0 repo (github.com/SafePalWallet/safepal-s1) holds part of the application layer only; WalletScrutiny (updated 2025-12-23) found it incomplete and not buildable. The rest of the S1 firmware is not published. Kraken Security Labs reported in 2021 that the firmware was encrypted and that GPL source for U-Boot/Linux was not provided.
