Incidents
- 2025 · Hack: On Feb 21, 2025 one Bybit Ethereum cold wallet was compromised and about $1.46 billion was stolen; the exploit is linked to North Korea's Lazarus Group. Bybit said client assets stayed backed 1:1, processed all withdrawals within about 12 hours, and covered the shortfall. The amount is what was stolen from the platform; customers were not charged the loss. About $1.5 billion taken; customers were made whole. source

- 2025 · Fine or settlement (Financial Intelligence Unit - India (FIU-IND)): FIU-IND fined Bybit about $1 million for operating in India without registration; Bybit paid the fine and registered with FIU-IND in February 2025. Amount: $1 million. source
